Top 5 Local Markets in Krabi You Shouldn't Miss (Especially If You Love Food!)

Let’s be honest — when people come to Krabi, they’re thinking: beaches, longtail boats, and maybe a coconut or two. But real ones know… the best thing to do in Krabi is EAT. And the best eating? It’s not in the hotel buffet. It’s at the local markets, where the food is hot, cheap, and cooked by someone’s aunty who’s been perfecting that one dish for 27 years.
We run food tours here in Krabi, so we know a thing or two about where the locals actually go. Here are 5 local markets we love, and what you should eat when you get there — or better yet, just come with us and we’ll make sure you don’t accidentally eat the super spicy stuff (unless you’re into that).

1. Krabi Town Walking Street Market
(Maharaj Road — Fri to Sun, 5pm to 10pm)
The OG of Krabi night markets. It’s lively, colorful, and full of smells that make you question whether you already ate dinner (answer: it doesn’t matter, you’re eating again).
What to eat:
Moo Ping (sweet grilled pork on a stick = instant happiness)
Chicken Satay(juicy skewers with creamy peanut sauce - 10/10 would eat again)
Thai iced tea because you deserve it
Pro tip: This is one of our favorite stops on the Taste Krabi Evening Food Tour. Come hungry.
2. Maharat Morning Market (Talad Sod)
(Daily, 6am to 11am)
If you’ve ever wondered where the locals go before 9am, this is it. It’s chaos, it’s beautiful and the perfect place to see fresh seafood, herbs, and curry pastes made from scratch. You’ll understand Thai food on a whole new level!
What to eat:
Tropical Fruit Galore(juicy, messy, sweet and the perfect excuse to eat with your hands)
Thai donuts (Pa Thong Ko) dipped in condensed milk — it's basically Thai churros
Khanom Krok (crispy coconut pudding magic)
We come here on our Morning Tour — it’s our happy place.
3. Ao Nang Landmark Night Market
(Daily, 5pm to 10pm)
This one’s right near the beach and very Instagrammable. Yes, it’s more touristy, but sometimes you just want a banana roti and someone playing Ed Sheeran on a guitar nearby. No judgment.
What to eat:
BBQ Seafood - go for the prawns, squid and anything that comes with chili-lime dipping sauce
Som Tum (papaya salad – tell them “mai pet” unless you enjoy tears)
Tropical fruit shake — mango, passionfruit, dragon fruit… honestly, we don’t care what flavor. It’s cold, sweet, and 100% mandatory in this heat
Pro tip: Come hungry, bring wet wipes, and don't wear white. Trust us.
4. Boo Dam Night Market
(Most evenings from 4pm until someone rolls home full)
This is one of Krabi’s most local night markets — no frills, just smoky grills, loud chatter, and food that seriously delivers. It’s gritty, authentic, and smells like fried garlic, lime, and adventure.
What to eat:
Hat Yai fried chicken — crispy, golden, topped with fried shallots and possibly the best bite of your trip
Isaan sausage (Sai Krok Isaan) — sour, garlicky, grilled to perfection, and absolutely addictive
Fried insects — grasshoppers, crickets, silkworms… great if you're feeling brave, or just want to stare and say “nope” respectfully
This is where real Krabi eats. No gimmicks. Just glorious street food and vibes.
5. Chao Fah Pier Night Market
(Most nights from 5pm)
Low-key, local, and right by the water. This is where you go when you want grilled squid with a view and you don’t want to wait in line behind someone live-streaming their dinner.
What to eat:
BBQ chicken with sticky rice
Southern-style curry (warning: spicy but life-changing)
Grilled squid with chili dip that bites back
Market Survival Tips from the Taste Krabi Crew:
Don’t eat before you go. Rookie mistake.
Don’t be shy — just point and smile (the international sign for “I’ll take one”)
Always carry small cash (20s and 50s). Your pad thai aunty doesn’t take Visa.
Never trust a chili that looks innocent
